RCR Tomlinson has announced it will commence all engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works on Pacific Hydro’s 100MWac Haughton Solar Farm.

In November, the company was awarded an early works contract to commence work on the $175 million Townsville project.

With the final investment decision (FID) complete, RCR Tomlinson has received a notice to proceed with its EPC contract for stage 1 of the solar farm.

Once commissioned, RCR will provide operation and maintenance services for a period of five years, with an option to extend for a further five years.

“We are very pleased to be working with Pacific Hydro, a global renewable energy owner and developer, to deliver this significant large-scale utility solar energy project generating 100MWac of power,” RCR Tomlinson managing director and CEO Dr Paul Dalgleish said.

“This significant project reflects RCR’s ability to bring smart engineering solutions to our clients while providing certainty of performance and delivery time in the rapidly-evolving renewable energy industry.”

The Haughton Solar Farm has planning approval to extend its capacity up to 500MWac.

The project is expected to be complete by early 2019.
