Contract awarded for Limondale Solar Farm

Downer has been awarded a contract by BELECTRIC Solar and Battery GmbH to build innology SE’s 349MW Limondale Solar Farm located in southern New South Wales.

Executive director of Downer’s utilities business Trevor Cohen says the company is pleased to be working on the project, which which will deliver significant economic and environmental benefits for the local community.

“Once the Limondale Solar Farm is built, Downer will have constructed close to three gigawatts of renewable energy projects,” he says.

Managing director of BELECTRIC Martin Zembsch says the solar farm is an important project for BELECTRIC as it marks BELECTRIC’s intention to grow its business in Australia.

The announcement comes after BELECTRIC revealed last month that construction at Limondale Solar Farm had begun.

Once completed it will be the largest solar farm in Australia, with an expected completion date of 2020.
